Significance of output:

Paper analysing the results of a three-year study of the impacts of participatory forest management on poverty in Tanzania, Kenya and Nepal. Funded by Ford Foundation and CARE International, the results should contribute to the design of more appropriate participatory forest management institutions which provide rural people with a sustainable and equitably distributed stream of net benefits by having poverty reduction as a stated objective, and allowing both subsistence and commercial use of forest products.
