Additional information

This article received the 2011 American Educational Research Association SIG/RME Early Career Publication Award. The analytic framework discussed in the article has been adapted and used by other researchers in their analyses of textbooks at different levels of education, from the elementary to the university (for example, the five articles in a forthcoming International Journal of Education Research special issue have all used adapted versions of the framework). A U.S. National Science Foundation funded research project (PI: Margaret Smith, University of Pittsburgh) has used the framework as a guiding tool for the development of a teacher education curriculum on reasoning-and-proving.
