Additional information

Model subset selection is a fundamental problem in data analysis. This paper introduces new concepts in model selection that have subsequently led to the award of a multi-disciplinary grant from NERC NE/H023402/1 £310K 01/2011-01/2014 and resulted in an EPSRC Platform Grant EP/H00453X/1 £1.2M 01/2010-01/2015. The proposed algorithms also led to successful applications in the analysis of Greenland melting and iceberg calving (Prof G Bigg, Dept Geography, University of Sheffield) and space weather (Dr Lutz Rastaetter, Space Weather Laboratory, NASA/Goddard Space Flight Centre).
