Additional information

This volume is the outcome of a two-day international workshop held in June 2010 at the University of London, funded by the Institute of Classical Studies and the Newton Fellowship (British Academy). Equally with his co-editor (Saint-Guillain), Stathakopoulos planned the workshop and invited the speakers (2 from the UK, 3 from France, and one each from Greece, Italy, the Netherlands and Austria), and collected and edited the papers for publication. He contributed his own chapter (‘The location of medical practice in 13th-century Eastern Mediterranean,’ pp. 135-54) and a short Conclusion.
