<22>This article presents a number of new algorithms for automatically generating ad-hoc communication relays in environments with obstacles using many UAVs. The original problem was proposed by Saab, a Swedish company that manufactures UAVs. The algorithms have been implemented and tested in simulation. This is multi-disciplinary work with both mathematics and computer science departments. The success of this project has led to a new 4 year Saab sponsored project in the area of mixed-initiative interaction (2014-2018).
