Retrodirective Array Performance in the Presence of Near Field Obstructions
This paper was the first practical demonstration that a retrodirective array offers significant improvements in gain when obstructed by solid objects. Such an example includes a wireless network transmitting through brick walls. The retrodirective array showed gain improvements of 10 dB higher than a conventional array through a path obstructed by concrete blocks, thus offering about 6 times more range. This work has appeared in a report of Megawave Corporation prepared for the US National Association of Broadcasters looking at possibilities for use in set top digital TV antennas, to mitigate the effects of signals travelling through walls. www.nabfastroad.org/Reports/NABHighpermformanceIndoorTVantennaRpt.pdf
