Additional information

This paper is the first demonstration a highly effective means of encrypting data at the antenna hardware level. The phenomenon is called Spatial Encryption and even at high signal to noise, the signal is completely “garbled” through wavefront incoherence in all directions except the direction along which a pilot signal has arrived. The technique provides a new first line of defence for wireless communications security. This work made a very significant contribution as a primary freespace carrier transport mechanism within the wireless enabled secure systems part of the major £4.6M EPSRC EP/GO30303/1 centre for secure information technologies, CSIT.
