Additional information

This paper describes the findings of a joint academic-industrial research project with Avecia Biologics (now Fujifilm Diosynth Biotechnologies; co-authors Liddell and Kara). The paper shows that protein descriptors contain information that can be used to give an indication of the sequence of unit operations required when the product is manufactured. The algorithms developed extract the relationships from a historical industrial database and when new products arise their descriptors are determined and contrasted with prior experience to suggest the most likely recovery route. This approach enables a rapid assessment of the optimal recovery route for new products.
