* The first work ever (and the only to date) to consider development of a space vector PWM scheme for a three-level seven-phase voltage source inverter.

* Significant, since it enables near-sinusoidal output voltage generation for seven-phase variable-speed drives, which are well-suited for high-voltage high-power applications.

* Presents the full algorithm development, accompanied with implementation and experimental verification, and addresses all the additional complexities introduced by the presence of additional 2D planes in multiphase systems.
