Additional information
<27> This paper, which was awarded the best informatics paper in the journal in 2011, presents a principled framework for estimating the quality of user-contributed data by combining probabilistic modelling and web interoperability. The work directly led to a CASE PhD project with Mike Molyneux (mike.molyneux@metoffice.gov.uk) at the Met Office (value £98k) on assessing user-contributed data on their WOW website (http://wow.metoffice.gov.uk/) and to an FP7 project GeoViQua involving 9 partners (value £275k to Aston). The work also lead to involvement in an EU supported COST action (TD1202) on citizen sensing.
