<19>This paper proposes a new robust and secure perceptual image hashing technique based on the concept of virtual watermark detection. It includes a theoretical development followed by an extensive experimental analysis of the technique with a comparative study in terms of robustness against five related and recent state-of-the-art techniques. This work has resulted in a funded project from Plan National de Recherche funding body (PNR, Algeria) (grant ref: 13_CR0161_125, 2011) to secure biometric templates for use in e-passport.
