Ways of listening and modes of being: electroacoustic auditory display
<29>This original research article was invited by the Editor-in-Chief and resulted in an invitation to contribute to the forthcoming Routledge volume on sound art and sonic epistemologies. The article identifies four new modes of listening pertaining to sonification and followed our Technology Strategy Board funded project (BK008B) which sonified the self-organized criticality of real-time network traffic (leading to patent application GB1205564.6, 29/03/2012). It underpins a commercial collaboration with Security Risk Management Ltd resulting in an interdisciplinary EPSRC bid with SRM Ltd and colleagues from Psychology to investigate multimodal visualization to aid situational awareness for network cyber security (EP/L013231/1, CoI: Vickers).
