English abstract

In this paper the notion put forward by the French scholar Hans-Georg Pflaum that (a) there was a procurator ferrariarum Galliarum and (b) that the seat of this procuratorship was in Lyon, is questioned. The absence of clear evidence for subaltern staff of this particular administrative branch at Lyon and the lack of any provincial term after procurator ferrariarum may suggest an office held at Rome itself.
