An analytical performance model for the Spidergon NoC with virtual channels
<01> Originality: The first analytical model to study the effects of virtual channels on the performance of wormhole-routed interconnection networks is presented.
Significance: Collaborating with Glasgow University, this study formed the basis for a new topology, QUARC, to not only improve some topological properties of the Spidergon NoC but also to improve the overall performance by load balancing. “System Architecture” is a leading journal in the area of computer architecture. Rigor: In-house simulating software was developed to validate the accuracy of the proposed model. An FPGA implementation of the Spidergon has also been developed to accurately analyse employing virtual channels.
