Monolith formation and ring-stain suppression in low-pressure evaporation of poly(ethylene oxide) droplets

This work was the result of an on-going collaboration with Prof. K. Sefiane (University of Edinburgh) and Prof. M.E.R. Shanahan (Deputy Director, Laboratoire de Mécanique Physique, Université Bordeaux 1). Following on from this work Fairhurst co-chaired an International Workshop on “Wetting and Evaporation of Droplets of Pure and Complex Fluids” in 2013 with Dr. D. Brutin (Aix Marseille University) which 166 people attended from 32 countries with 20 manuscripts published in a special Droplets issue of Colloids and Surfaces A for which Fairhurst was guest editor. Following its success, a second workshop will take place in 2015 (Twente, Netherlands).
