Combined X-ray diffraction and kinetic depth effect imaging
We demonstrate that KDEX imaging, pioneered by Evans et al, and industrially developed via a US Government DHS BAA can be combined with the materials discriminating ability of X-ray diffraction. Led by Evans; linked EPSRC (EP/F017596/1) & (EP/F0178041) with Rogers at Cranfield Univ Defence & Security in collaboration with UK Home Office & US Dept of Homeland Security. This work established proof of principle for a major research contract; Explosives & Weapons Detection 2010 Call for Innovative R&D Proposals under the UK Government’s Counter Terrorism Strategy, CONTEST. Also, exploited via Patent PCT/GB2011/05115 via Nottingham/Cranfield spin-off; HALO X-ray Technologies Ltd.
