A Krylov-Arnoldi reduced order modelling framework for efficient, fully coupled, structural-acoustic optimization
The output describes the application of the Krylov-based reduced order modelling method, for design optimization of the structural-acoustic performance of a polypropylene glass fibre composite panel, by varying the stacking sequence. The algorithm demonstrates significant gains in both accuracy and efficiency. The composite panel used here was developed as part of EPSRC Grant (GR/S27245/01), and as a result of this work a number of commercial FE developers are actively implementing the use of Krylov modules and subroutines to solve structural-acoustic models. Nastran/Actran and ABAQUS have also approached us to write a plug-in for use with their software.
