Additional information

In this paper, a new fibre-based finite element model for three-dimensional analysis of reinforced concrete columns is developed. The originality of the model is that it accounts for the coupling between axial, shear, bending, and torsional response within the context of beam elements. Previous models that account for such effect are based on three-dimensional solid elements, which are computationally very expensive. The concrete constitutive law is based on the Softened Membrane Model, and is adopted at the fibre level. Correlation studies confirmed the ability of the model to accurately describe both the global and local behaviour.
