Double-weighted statement

This substantial book is the result of over thirty years of research on trends in urban livelihoods and migration in sub-Saharan Africa and is currently the most detailed monograph on these issues. It provides cutting-edge research on two substantial themes: a re-theorising of migration and urbanisation in sub-Saharan Africa, demonstrating the links between circular migration and urban economies; and an empirically rich case study based on research in Zimbabwe between 1985 and 2010 including a unique longitudinal dataset derived from migrant surveys undertaken by the author in 1985, 1988, 1994 and 2001.
