Additional information

This paper demonstrates the effect of scintillation on feedback loops used in GNSS receivers. Such research is essential to facilitate future attempts to mitigate space weather impacts on safety-critical GNSS applications. This work led to a patent application for a new technique that can reduce the degradation of GNSS accuracy during space-weather events (Satellite navigation system and method, GB1112336.1, submitted July 2011). This work in part led to the award of a two-year University Prize Research Fellowship to Forte. The work is interdisciplinary with Physics.
