Additional information

This study focuses on a more defined identification of the causes of the often trumpeted limitations of young people in using literacy in the work place. While many studies have chronicled the tale of woe in terms of young people’s literacy suitability, very little has been done in terms of identifying and understanding what the actual shortcomings are and what is responsible for them. It is from this pragmatic position that this study takes a departure by identifying what learners, employers and teachers consider to be the sources of the gaps highlighted.
