Additional information

The presence of a magnetic field is a frequently encountered feature of operation of many modern electro-mechanical devices. This paper addresses important practical implications for rolling contacts (commonly used in practice) resulting from the presence of a magnetic field. The research was carried out as a joint project with Professor Kenichi Sato (ksato@chiba-u.ac.jp), Chiba University, Japan and its findings were disseminated among leading Japanese high-tech companies.
