Additional information

The discrepancies in the published data on flow boiling heat transfer and its dependence on parameters such as mass and heat flux, pressure and vapour quality limited the ability of researchers to agree and converge to models/correlations that can be used in the design of micro-evaporators for thermal management applications. The paper made a unique/novel contribution documenting the reasons for the disagreement, namely the effect of the heated length and surface characteristics, also noting that instability is the third reason. Inclusion of the effect of these parameters was considered essential in comparisons among results from different laboratories and modelling/correlation work.
