Additional information

Water spray screening is a fire mitigation technique to protect personnel and equipment on offshore and onshore installations. The technique is more established for hydrocarbon fires. The paper is the first to analyse the viability of water spray technique for hydrogen flame shielding. The conclusions of the study were welcomed by the spray industry at the 13th International Water Mist Conference (16&17 Oct 2013 Paris) where Dr Dembele presented the key findings. The study has also helped Dr Dembele secure £17k funding for water spray research with a flare consultancy company, Softbits Consultants Ltd in August 2013.
