The analysis suggests the formation of TiC follows a liquid synthesis mechanism. The reaction sequence for the Ni/Al/Ti/C system was also investigated. Based on the findings in this paper, a TiC/NiAl coating, with capacity to improve the wear and corrosion resistance of engineering structures in many applications such as mining and aircraft engines, has been produced.
