Transforming Townscapes. From Burh to Borough: The Archaeology of Wallingford, AD 800-1400
Creighton is one of two principal authors for this substantial publication (250,000 words/475pp) which is the end product of a major collaborative AHRC project (£311,907 + two studentships) articulated between Leicester, Exeter and Oxford. It involved nine seasons of fieldwork, comprising survey and excavations, re-analysis and publication of archive materials, and post-excavation analysis involving a wide range of specialists. Creighton’s substantial commitment ran from 2001 to 2013, when it absorbed a large proportion of his research time (including 528 hours charged to the grant 2008-10) which impacted on his ability to produce another substantial output for the REF.
