Additional information

The main contribution of this paper is to join and use the double function of natural capital (namely: natural capital as a provide of materials and natural capital as an absorber of emissions) to test the possibility of a sustainable economic growth for EU27.

By considering CO2 emissions data from 1996 to 2008, N0X data from 1996 to 2009 and Domestic Material Consumption statistics from 2000 to 2007, this paper explores the hypothesis of sustainable growth and brings analytical value to the discussion of "de-pollution" and "dematerialization".
