Dr Long was sole author of the introduction and one of the chapters. His chapter is crucial to the aims of the volume: whereas other chapters explore individual responses to Plato, the editor’s constructs a typology of such responses and sifts the evidence for them in the early Stoa. The editor had previously arranged the workshops that gave rise to the volume; each contributor received full comments and suggestions for revision before the volume was submitted to CUP.
