Double-weighted statement

The fruit of seven years’ work, this monograph develops a complex argument about the culture of Roman imperialism and draws on a very wide range of sources. The four central chapters trace metaphorical representations of empire across all of Latin literature from the mid-first century BCE to the end of the second century CE. The final chapter also establishes and analyses an epigraphic corpus of ca 400 imperial pronouncements to provincial communities.
