Additional information

Paper presents asymmetric aircraft that offers potential for drag reduction and therefore improved efficiency. However, this results in highly-unstable configuration which has coupled response to any control input. Paper demonstrated successful application of Eigenstructure assigment to decouple the open-loop asymmetric-aircraft response. Closed-loop response is presented with performance analysis in order to highlight performance benefits. Work was presented in invited session at 2010 AIAA Atmospheric Flight Mechanics Conference (Toronto, Canada).
