Cooperative search for fair nurse rosters
<22> A challenging issue in decision support is capturing the experience of multiple decision makers who may make use of different models or heuristics while solving a problem. This novel study introduces a generic agent-based distributed framework to exploit the strengths of multiple metaheuristics and fairness-based objectives for fair nurse rostering. The proposed approach is evaluated on a real-world problem. This paper is a major contribution to the Healthcare, Heuristic Understanding and Systems to Build Systems research clusters of the £5.4M EPSRC-funded LANCS initiative and has the potential to significantly shape the international agenda in all of these fields.
