<22> IEEE Transactions on Fuzzy Systems has an Impact Factor of 5.484 and this paper is in the top 10% of most cited Computer Science papers in ISI. This paper was the first piece of research to allow for fast defuzzification of generalised type-2 fuzzy sets. Previous defuzzification had been for interval type-2 fuzzy sets. Later research which followed built on geometric defuzzification with other researchers (Mendel and Hagras) developing alpha-planes and z-slices, which essentially are approximations to our approach.
