Additional information

Spatial decorrelation of signals is important for low frequency space radars because it directly affects the choice of aperture, yet no measurements were hereto available because there is no operational radar. Published in the leading journal in this field, a technique to measure this important parameter over baselines of a few hundred metres was developed. The analysis was then extended to longer baselines assuming a frozen model of ionospheric irregularities. This adapted techniques previously only used in the troposphere. This research has led the way; with similar studies using GPS signals only now (2013) being pursued in the USA.
