<12> This extends substantially the paper "A Relaxed Approach to RDF Querying" presented at ISWC 2006 (not submitted to RAE 2008 as it reported on work still in progress). The ISWC paper is extended in a number of ways: complete technical treatment, including full proofs of theoretical results sketched out in that paper; additional work exploring the relationship between relaxations and derivations using new inference rules; a new algorithm for computing relaxations, based on the new notion of the "extended reduction" of an ontology; and a case study demonstrating use of our approach in integrating and querying heterogeneous data sources.
