<21> This paper presents our work on the Wikipedia Participation Challenge organised by the Wikimedia Foundation (WMF), Kaggle, and IEEE ICDM-2011. It led to the second-best valid algorithm in this data mining contest involving 193 data scientists
around the world, and it achieved 41.7% improvement over WMF's in-house solution. In comparison with the top performing valid algorithm, our method has a very similar prediction accuracy but a much simpler model. WMF is now implementing our algorithm permanently with the intention of using it in their production environment.
