Significance of output:

This research has had significant impact as the developed method described has now been adopted by the International Electrotechnical Commission into its standard IEC60060-1 and is now the “informative approach” for applying the ‘k-factor’ when determining lightning impulse parameters. The standard ensures that high voltage lightning impulse measurements worldwide use the same analytical methodology when determining the rise time, peak voltage and time to decay to 50% of the peak value.
