Thin film polycrystalline silicon nanowire biosensors
Significance of output:
This is the first paper to obtain antibody-antigen titration curves and quantitative values of binding constant from measurements on silicon nanowire FET biosensors. The biosensors were produced using a manufacturable top-down technology and commercialisation is being pursued through a TSB project (16520-124156 & EP/K502327/1, £2.3M) with Sharp Laboratories Europe (sally.anderson@sharp.co.uk) Oxford Instruments Plasma Technology and Aptamer Solutions. Nanowires were characterised in air and at each biofunctionalisation step and binding constants were compared with standard protocols. The research was funded by EPSRC (EP/6061696/1, £1.3M).
