Additional information

<20> This paper reported a groundbreaking technological system using which humans and animals can interact with each other at their own scales in real time. Immersive virtual reality and a teleoperated robot were used in experiments involving real-time interactions between human subjects and rats that demonstrated new research directions for fields such as ethology. This multidisciplinary paper (computer science and robotics) has had more than 141,000 views, among the top 10 of all papers in PLoS One. It was recommended by Faculty of 1000 Prime and also widely reported in the world media such as online BBC (http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/technology-20139098) and Time.
