<07> This work presents a new language for describing and reusing generalised patterns of failure in safety-critical systems for use in safety analyses. Written with Swinburne University of Technology (Australia), it was applied to a number of case studies and was implemented in the HiP-HOPS approach, which is now a commercial product used in the transport industry (Volvo, Fiat, Toyota, Honda etc). It also influenced the design of the EAST-ADL architecture description language being developed by the European automotive industry.
