Additional information
<26> In this paper a partial shape preserving spline (PSPS) technique has been developed. The shape preserving feature of PSPS allows one to combine any type of parametric curves and surfaces into a geometric design. Compared with NURBS, the current de-facto standard for geometric modelling, PSPS is not only much simpler to implement, but more powerful, flexible and efficient in geometric design, as has been shown by numerous shape design examples presented in the paper. PSPS is not just an alternative to NURBS, it has the potential to replace NURBS as a new de facto shape design standard.
