Many studies have built upon the methodological foundations of this first paper to study secondary studies in software engineering, including Kitchenham et al. (2010) “Systematic Reviews in Software Engineering—A Tertiary Study”, Information & Software Technology, 52(8), which added another 40 studies and included a quality assessment model; and da Silva et al (2011) “Six years of Systematic Literature Reviews in Software Engineering: An updated Tertiary Study”, which added 67 further studies.
