Additional information

This is the first paper to examine in detail both experimentally and numerically the response of flush endplate connections to the tensile forces induced by a steel beam acting in catenary in a fire. It highlights (i) the change of the failure mode with temperature and (ii) the importance of the different rates of strength and stiffness degradation of the bolts and plates on the high temperature robustness of the connection.
