This work has been followed by a similar research activity a year later in Japan by professor Nagatsuma at Osaka university (Optics Letters, Vol. 38, pp. 2307-2310, 2013). Led to the award of a EU grant (iPHOS, £3.1M) UCL Impact studentship (£115k with NPL, Renaud PI) and is part of the key work for the EPSRC programme grant (EP/J017671/1, £6.6M). Led to two invited contributions at the leading international topical meeting in microwave photonics (MWP 2011 and 2012).
