Additional information

International collaboration with Dr Karaliopoulos of ETH, Zurich. This is the first work to propose a fixed-point framework to analytically approximate transport layer performance in conjunction with the MAC sub-layer (i.e. cross-layer optimisation). It provides satellite network operators with a tool to tune their networks, increasing the performance of expensive satellite links and differentiating sensitive traffic for providing better quality of service. In addition, the ideas behind controlling congestion and guaranteeing stream performance have led to the award of the EPSRC COMIT project (PI: Pavlou) on hop-by-hop traffic control for active content management - £487k.
