On the selection of management/monitoring nodes in highly dynamic networks
This work shows how manager nodes can be selected in an adaptive in-network manner, minimising management traffic overhead, reducing response times and increasing service quality and availability. It has applicability to peer-to-peer, ad-hoc/mesh, virtual and content networks and is one of the key emerging works to substantiate autonomic network behaviour. Its ideas led to the award of the EU UniverSelf project - €10,460k (€906k to UCL, PI Prof. Pavlou). Based on this work, Prof. Pavlou was invited to give a keynote speech on in-network cache management in IFIP/IEEE CNSM 2013, which is the premier yearly conference in network/service management.
