Additional information

The book studies the ideological sources of educational practice in literacy and explores discourses from the political ‘left’ involved in the teaching of literacy. This is the first book to analyse and critique the nature of left-leaning ideological approaches to the teaching of literacy using a classic Marxist theoretical lens. Lambirth creates an analytical framework with which to examine and categorise perspectives for the teaching of literacy. The originality of the approach to understanding literacy schooling is reflected in the publisher’s decision, due to sales, to provide a second edition in paperback in November 2012.
