Additional information

Maximum power extraction from renewable sources is economically important. Such extraction from PV farms is complicated by the physical nature of PVs: with a PV large surface area, light intensity variation and shading are inevitable. This research presents a novel solution to shaded PV maximum power extraction. The research was motivated by an international collaborative research programme between Prof Nasrudin Abdul Rahim [nasrudin@um.edu.my], of the University of Malaya and an industrial contract with a Malaysian PV manufacturer, EndauPV Industries. This, and other journal publications [10.1109/TIE.2011.2168796, 10.1109/TPEL.2012.2229218], resulted from two-month visiting professor sabbaticals at the University of Malaya in 2010-2012.
