Additional information

This research is the first attempt to integrate the results from a circuit-based simulation with finite difference time domain (FDTD) simulation code to facilitate a seamless transition from ‘cause to effect’ when a system is operational, thus reducing significantly (potentially, by weeks) the total simulation set-up time required. This research is a continuation of earlier collaborations [1994-1999] with National Grid [Keith Walker, now retired] and ScottishPower [Bernard Pryor, now retired], and enables electricity companies to quantify the levels of electromagnetic emissions from an operational substation without the need for actual measurements.
