A model of friction for a pin-on-disc configuration with imposed pin rotation
This publication resulted from an EPSRC CASE award of £104k with Perez as the PGR. The industrial funder was the Royal National Lifeboat Institution (RNLI) (contact Mr Steve Austen (Head of Engineering)). Additional industrial involvement with Supacat (Honiton, Devon) took place in terms of the durability of marine launching equipment. This publication underpins the understanding of accelerated bench pin-on-disc wear experiments used to assess and interpret industrial applications applied to marine hydraulic systems. An additional follow-on project is co-funded by the RNLI (£30k) assess the tribological implications of lubrication oil degradation in collaboration with British Petroleum (BP).
