Additional information

This paper introduces a new design of a constrained extensible crank mechanism to maintain the dynamical response of connecting rods in complex mechanical systems. Some of the programing used here was a continuation of the programming used in a book published by Springer (Advanced Dynamics). A SpringerAlerts update email (12 June 2013) identified the book as “one of the 25% most downloaded eBooks in the relevant Springer eBook Collection in 2012”. This paper led to collaboration with a Professors Madsen and Marghitu, Auburn University, USA and as a result, the book 'Statics with Matlab' was published by Springer in 2013.
